“Not a sign of what’s to come / What we go through” - Voodoo Brother, “Finding Feet”

In a world that celebrates excess and gives attention to an increasing number of people who’s only talent is being famous, Voodoo Brother don’t stand much of a chance of finding huge commercial success. The reason? It’s simple, really. In their world, substance has, and always will be, far more important than trendy exposure. If nothing else, their work on their second release, INTENTIONS OF VALUE, proves just that. With the worldwide exposure they gained with their debut release, they could easily have put together a new batch of songs immediately to try to ride the trend rocket to the next level. Instead though, they took their time to create something masterful once again. Guitarist Joe Campo used this time to not only increase his already virtuoso-like skills, but to add new dimensions to everything from his playing to his writing to the styles he incorporates. Drummer Dave Doyle used the time to become a deeper, more developed timekeeper which is showcased throughout INTENTIONS OF VALUE. Bassist Curt Briscar found a way past the already addictive groove he always lays down to become more seamless on the backend of each song with Doyle. And vocalist Jay Monaco? Well, his lyrics may continue to have some quirk to them, but you can hear a new clarity on his outlook on life with each and every lyric he provides.

Voodoo Brother has elevated themselves from “one of many bands” out there to “one of the elite” with INTENTIONS OF VALUE. Listening to songs like “Consume Me”, you can feel a powerful energy that is just missing in today’s hard rock and heavy metal music. That energy comes from being real. There are times when Voodoo Brother gets heavy, such as on “Bring You To Life”, but even in those

times you get new and fresh elements unique to this band alone. At other times, such as on “Finding Feet”, you get that “bubble gum in your hair” feeling as this addictive song sticks in your brain for days.

In short, INTENTIONS OF VALUE is one of the most focused releases you will hear in 2017. The

musicianship is beyond reproach. The songs are bordering on brilliant. Most of all, there is simply no thought that this release, or this band, provides anything but substance. If you want less than that, hit shuffle on Spotify’s new releases playlist.
