Tierra is a Latin R&B band, originally from Los Angeles, California, that was first established in the 1970s.

Brilliant debut on the wild absurdity of an underappreciated and inappropriately forgotten American group. CD is still missing.

Took to listen to this album almost at random, without any information: a sixth sense prompted. The masterful composition of the compositions, a brilliant sense of humor in digestible proportions, beautiful melodic allusions: from THE BEATLES to stunning layouts in the style of DR. DOPO JAM, a wonderful possession of the whole gamut of instruments. Eclectic cocktail on a Latin American basis. Several parallels come to mind as parallels (extremely approximate). First, their fellow countrymen of the same time period, just as groundlessly half-forgotten by the population of deadly talents from FACEDANCERS. It’s in terms of humor and professionalism. Secondly: some major Englishmen of the period 73-75. This is part of the refined sound and festive elation of mood. Thirdly: the aforementioned august Danes … But all this, of course, is a very subjective analogy. Attempts to dispatch a worthy thing, because you really need to listen to this.

An excellent bit of Chicano funk from Tierra – one of the group’s first records, and maybe even their rarest! The vibe here is great – far-reaching and righteous – a wicked blend of west coast early 70s changes, with a great blend of Latin, soul, and funk – and maybe just a slight dose of rock in the guitars
