Tone arm flips up to change needle.

Spent needles are tossed in little cups sitting in the motor board.

I started removing the needle immediately after each play in order to remember to change the needle. Many recommend using only one needle per play. The needles might very well last an additional play before damaging the disc but I'd rather reduce the wear on these nearly 100 year old records.
