Bono along with Gavin Friday and Maurice Seezer wrote three songs for inclusion in the film “In the Name of the Father”. They recorded two of the songs themselves, and the third was recorded by Sinéad O’Connor. One of the songs that Bono recorded with Gavin Friday was “In the Name of the Father”, the title track on the soundtrack, and the first music you hear in the film. The song is played as the bomb goes off. The bomb detonation is synched with the point that the song picks up. The first single released from the movie was the Bono and Gavin penned “You Made Me the Thief of Your Heart” recorded by Sinéad O’Connor. “In the Name of the Father” was chosen as the second single from the soundtrack and was released on March 28, 1993.
