Jeff Mangum apparently had some involvement with this record, which is cool.
True story:
Something like 10 years ago my dad made a facebook profile for our cat. Then he found out there was a whole universe of \"pet accounts\" on facebook, and he made friends with a few thousand of them. One of them was run by someone who played on this album (maybe Jill? don't know), which is how the CD ended up in my Dad's hands, which is how it ended up in mine.
I only discovered it years later when I was selling off my parents old CDs on ebay. Since it was a gift, he decided it would be gross to sell it. I listened to it, and after two songs I decided I hated it because it was too weird.
There was a time shortly after when Ian from primbo was asking for music recommendations, and I told him this was a really great album as a prank. Actually I was \"testing\" him, since he seemed to like literally every album I told him to listen to. I think he did the same thing where he listened to the first two songs and then stopped, so I guess he passed the test.
Then, some years later, having acquired a taste for weirder stuff, I gave it another shot and was surprised to find that the album really starts getting good starting with track 3.
(If anyone who worked on this album is reading this - haha sorry. I like the whole thing now. I think I just needed the context of the rest of it. I even figured out how to play 78s on guitar.)
