The Three Bells (Les Trois Cloches) (Villard-Reisfled) by The Browns, with The Anita Kerr Singers, produced by Chet Atkins
What is sometimes known as “The Jimmy Brown Song” was first recorded in 1946--in French--by Edith Piaf and Les Compagnons de la Chanson (The Companions Of Song). That group’s early-1950s English-language version is included in YouTube’s 1952 HITS ARCHIVE. The Browns “Nashville Sound” version spent four weeks atop the pop charts.
THE 1959 HITS ARCHIVE - here in one place, a good-quality library of original-release-version best-sellers and songs that made an impact that were either released or enjoyed a major chunk of their popularity within the calendar year 1959 (some were recorded in 1958).
