I sang Dixie, Dwight Yoakam, Jenny Daniels, Country Music Cover

'I sang Dixie' is a song written and recorded by Dwight Yoakam.
It was released in 1988 and went to number one on the US Country charts. It´s about meeting a man from the Southern States who is dying on a street in Los Angeles and comforting him while singing Dixie as he is dying. The lyrics touch me very much.

My name is Jenny and I love to sing classic country songs. I cover some of the best old and new popular country music classics. I also love singing country ,- pop rock gospel and beautiful country folk songs. I hope you like my country song covers and if you do please like, share, comment and subscribe to my channel.

Lyrics:
I sang Dixie as he died
The people just walked on by as I cried
The bottle had robbed him of all his rebel pride
So I sang Dixie as he died
He said way down yonder in the land of cotton
Old times there ain't near as rotten as they are
On this damned old L.A. street
Then he drew a dying breath
And laid his head against my chest
Please Lord take his soul back home to Dixie
He said listen to me son while you still can
Run back home to that Southern land
Don't you see what life here has done to me?
Then he closed those old blue eyes
And fell limp against my side
No more pain, now he's safe back home in Dixie
He said listen to me son while you still can
Run back home to that Southern land
Don't you see what life here has done to me?
Then he closed those old blue eyes
And fell limp against my side
No more pain, now he's safe back home in Dixie
I sang Dixie as he died
The people just walked on by as I cried
The bottle had robbed him of all his rebel pride
So I sang Dixie as he died
I sang Dixie as he died
