Something I've been meaning to try for a while, chucking lots of midi at the Korg Nts-1 by sequencing it with Renoise. They make a great combination actually. There's plenty of midi CC's on the NTS-1 that can be sequenced and Renoise is great at per note modulation.
This was also a chance to try something I can do on my new old computer now that I have a spare VGA socket, sequences projected onto instruments. Reckon I'll do that again, looks pretty nice :)
Another new thing I tried here was Reaper’s Rearoute feature which I didn’t know about until a few days ago, it isn’t even installed by default. This sets up a virtual ASIO driver that you can select in another bit of software to run audio back and forth from Reaper. So I set that up at Renoise’s driver so I was able to run audio of the NTS1 from Reaper into Renoise, progress the audio with Renoise’s effects and then record the final output into Reaper along with the programmed beats. Great for this kind of semi live jam scenario. So this jam had quite a complex web of real world and virtual cabling even though it looks fairly simple 😄
The breakbeats I've used are both from free Sample Magic packs that I was going to link to below but sadly I can't find anymore. I've used vb6_DRM140_tubbedcamaro and SM101_CRM172_Jungleyfill2 if you fancy looking for them.
The spoken samples is me walking round a carboot sale with a minidsic recorder maybe ten years back. I was buying up records and bits of hifi gear, but not from these guys!
