Its been a while since I have done a Final Fantasy cover, and Im pretty happy with how it turned out! The phrases are very much fleshed out, because if youre familiar with the OG version, its surprisingly very basic. This song has been remixed/remastered so many times I wanted to really give it a full start-to-finish narrative.\" My first big motivation for covering this song was the highly synthesized oboe in the original. It needed some live touch! (Dont get me wrong, I love the old sound style, it has its place for sure!)
I hit some major writers block with this arrangement, and until examining the original composition further I realized how dull (not to mean that I dislike the song or think its badly composed! Just that it doesnt have that iconic melodic drive like you see in Tifas Theme, for example) the phrases are. It was really a struggle for me to finish it, especially through the video editing phase. Fun Fact: the (super wrinkledoops) red shirt that Im wearing is actually PURPLE and I figured out how to change the color smoothly within my video editing software!
To tell you the truth, Ive been conflicted on whether or not I should upload considering the current events happening in our news right now. I feel like it may seem insensitive to share something unrelated in the wake of everything that is going on. However, so many of us need art and music right nowthe nostalgia and enjoyment of video games and VGM has really been keeping me going throughout these three months of BLAH and I hope that others can feel the same.
I still havent gotten the FF7 remake, which is funny because PS4 has been my primary console for a while. Right before it was released, I replayed FF7 (the remastered version) and I forgot how good it was. I know its cliche all the way but it truly is one of the best FFs in my opinion!
