Brian Hyland had scored big hits on three different labels, Kapp, ABC and Philips before arriving at Dot in 1968. He had three more Hot-100 entries while with Dot, one of which was “Stay And Love Me All Summer”, which gave rise to the title of Brian’s second album for the label.
“Stay And Love Me All Summer” had been originally recorded by Eddie Jason on Ascot in 1967. Eddie’s version can be heard on You Tube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ma8PhxN6ts
Producer, ray Ruff passed in 2005 and the UK newspaper, the Independent had this to say: “The music business is filled with larger-than-life figures and Ray Ruff was one of them. He was a vocalist, producer and record-label owner, but he had also been a police officer and a professional basketball player. He stood for Congress in his home town of Amarillo, but he was quickly disillusioned, saying that he found \"more honesty in the record business. Moving to Los Angeles in 1969, Ruff worked at Dot Records and had some commercial success by producing Brian Hyland's \"Tragedy\"”.
