Haight-Ashbury San Francisco is one of the, historically richest neighborhoods in the Bay area. Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in San Francisco was the birthplace of the 1960's counter cultural movement. The Haight-Ashbury neighborhood tends to draw in an upbeat, diverse crowd, which looks to enjoy the legendary hippie vibes that were profound in this area during the counterculture movement of the 1960's. The neighborhood borders Golden gate Park. In addition to the rich history, there are many, well-preserved Victorian Style homes in this area. The Grateful Dead house is included in these Victorian homes.
This neighborhood is also famous for the 1967 Summer of love. The subculture in the area became so popular that TIME Magazine did a cover story on the hippies in the area! One of my favorite artists, Janis Joplin also lived in the Haight-Ashbury area of San Francisco. This is a place rich in the cultural history of America.
