Doris Jones was introduced to British producer Ian Levine through his early business partner Herb Rooney. Born in New Jersey, 1948, Jones had previously sung in the group The Electric Ladies, and as Levine recalls \"she was instantly special and great\". They recorded two singles, He's So Irresistible and Stranded In The Wilderness, for NEMS in 1976, both of which sold abysmally, much to Levine's disappointment. He got her signed to United Artists instead and her bouncy, uplifting single No Way Out achieved more recognition when released in 1977. Two more singles followed in 1978, Can't You See The Smile On My Face and Suddenly I'm Alive, but United Artists lost interest in her and cancelled the planned LP release.
Levine was meanwhile enjoying huge success with his James Wells' record My Claim To Fame which sold more than 100,000 copies in the US, and AVI Records were eager to sign his other projects. His business Rick Gianatos remixed the album and segued three of the tracks for a non-stop medley on side 1. Possessed was chosen as a 12\" release.
Doris Jones was never heard of again but if you do not know of her, you should appreciate her lovely voice and this wonderful collection of songs. Due to time restrains I have excluded her two 1976 singles but will include them on a different collection later.
