Nat Shilkret & The Victor Orchestra - Dainty Miss (1928

Playing Next: Tiësto - The Business (Robert Cristian Remix) | RX7 Night Drive
Random Page  /  Random Song

Nat Shilkret was Victor's director of music from the mid 1910s to the mid 1940s. He had been the bandleader of many groups such as The All Star Orchestra, Shilking Orchestra, Victor's Orchestra, Victor's Symphony Orchestra, and some of his own Orchestras.

Victor's Orchestra was formed in late 1925 at the release of the Victor Scroll, and was first credited in 1926. Almost Entirely recorded on Victor, between 1926 and 1941. Surprisingly they recorded one record on Montgomery ward in 1930.

This Orchestra of Shilkret's was one of the best, and a lot of the hits were on here, including my favorite one, All Alone Monday in 1927. That and Get Happy in 1930, Hallelujah! in 1937, Thinking Of You in 1928, Softly As In A Morning Sunrise in 1929, I Know That You Know in 1927, Dancing With A Tear In My Eye in 1930, and more.

I think it was my second ever 78 that I bought that was by The Hilo Hawaiian Orchestra. That record is posted on here, and it's basically the reason I became a 78 Youtuber. It had not been on youtube before I posted both the A and B.

The Hilo Hawaiian Orchestra was a Hawaiian band from Honolulu who got the opportunity to travel to the states in 1924 to Record for Victor for 2 records in 1924. Those two records of course ended up turning into a small career. In 1925 they started recording on His Master's Voice and Zonophone as well. Then around 1930 they would stop recording, with Almost all Victor recordings and one on Montgomery Ward.

They only had one hit, and it was When It's Spring Time In The Rockies in 1930.

The A Side is called Song Of Hawaii by the Hilo Hawaiian Orchestra which you can listen to here: https://youtu.be/VStjsHOJwVo
